First steps with the terminal

1. You can autocomplete the most commands, paths and filenames on pressing the tabulator key.
2. You can use the arrow keys to show old commands again and edit them.
1. arrow up/down will show you the history
2. arrow left/right let you move into the command to correct typos for example
3. The preinstalled terminal application has a very small fontsize.
   you can change it in the menu, marked with three lines on the top-right located menu in the terminal.
4. You define the devel-su password in the developer settings!

Establish SSH Connection

Why?

Lets get started!

1. Open the Settings Application
2. select `Developer mode`
3. enter an individual password into the `Set password for SSH and root access` prompt.
4. press `safe`

Activate MTP

1. Let’s say you want to add your own music to your SailfishOS installation.
   But you connect it to your PC and it does not open the A0001 or Sailfish folder?
   Follow these steps to enable Media Transfer Protocol:
1. Go to the ‘Settings’ application.
2. Select ‘USB’ from the list.
3. Change ‘Default USB mode’ to ‘PC connection’.
1. There are more options, you can choose Always ask if you change between these modes a lot.
4. After changing the setting, connect the phone to the computer and start copying!

Transferring files using SFTP from Computer to OPO or vice versa.

1. Find OnePlus One it’s IP address, which can befound under Developer Options in Settings:
2. Open your SFTP application on your Computer and find the ‘Connect’ button
3. Enter the IP address found in Step 1 as
   remote server, Use Username nemo and
   password from ‘Developer tools’ under ‘Settings’.
   Make sure to use SFTP and Port 22.
4. Click‘Connect’ and you’ll see a basic home folder structure of your OnePlus One.
5. Now you can start uploading the files you like.
6. @Hex reached a 6 Megabyte per second upload while uploading Music,
   so this is a bit quicker than MTP, at least for him.

Put Data in the fstab if lost

1. Paste the following in it:
   
   
   /dev/root / None defaults,noatime 0 0
   devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
   tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
   proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
   sysfs /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
   If the keyboard allow this, use > /etc/fstab, paste it and close the pastebox with ctrl+d.

Enable sound with headphones

1. Open the Terminal App
2. Run devel-su to get root permissions
3. Run systemctl restart ohmd.service
4. Enjoy

Enable MP3 playback

1. Open the Terminal App
2. Run devel-su to get root permissions
3. Run pkcon install gstreamer1.0-libav
4. cd /home/nemo/Downloads
5. curl https://openrepos.net/sites/default/files/packages/945/gst-plugins-bad-extra-1.4.5-1.armv7hl.rpm > gst-plugins-bad-extra.rpm //the package name is your choice
6. pkcon install-local gst-plugins-bad-extra.rpm
7. try to play some mp3 (maybe restart the player)

Note: as every Linux Distribution, you may find other codecs if needed for unfree mediatypes.
Maybe you want to search after codec-package names for multimedia in the internet.
The package names for fedora might be helpful!

Information:
I tryed to install a bunch of codecs. If it says, there is something missed,
go to openrepos.net, search it there and grap it.
Please report me how it works, if there was anything more to install and if mp3 is working.
If you have Warehouse you may can it install from there,
but be warned: sometimes there are Warehouse related issues
and you have better experience with the terminal.

Enable video playback

1. gstreamer010-ffmpeg-extra from sailfishlib
2. gstreamer-1x-bad-extra-codecs-145 from larswad
3. gstreamer-1x-ugly-codecs-145 from larswad
4. gstreamer10-libav from ruedigergad

1. Open the Terminal App

3. Download the packages using curl path/to/online/package.armv7hl.rpm > mypackagename.armv7hl.rpm
Fetch the latest packages here:
1. gstreamer010-ffmpeg-extra
2. gstreamer-1x-bad-extra-codecs-145
3. gstreamer-1x-ugly-codecs-145
4. gstreamer10-libav
4. Install them using pkcon install-local mypackage.armv7hl.rpm

Make manual APN settings staying saved

1. Open the Terminal App
2. Run devel-su to get root permissions
3. Run chown -R radio:radio /var/lib/ofono

Sharing your Media from and with Android

1. Open The Terminal App


2. Run devel-su to get root permissions


3. create a mount point and mount:
1. mkdir /android //use ever name you want
2. mount /dev/mmcblk0p28 /android


4. Make sure it will mount /android after every reboot:
   echo "/dev/mmcblk0p28 /android ext4 rw,relatime,data 0 0" >> /etc/fstab


5. We have to allow our user to handle the files under the created mountpoint:
   To make this, run: usermod -a -G media_rw nemo


6. Now we create symbolic links
1. Music
1. Delete the Music folder on Sailfish:
   rm -rf Music
2. symlinking from Android:
   ln -s /android/media/0/Music /home/nemo/Music


2. Video
1. Delete the Pictures folder on Sailfish:
   rm -rf Pictures
2. symlinking from Android:
   ln -s /android/media/0/DCIM /home/nemo/Pictures

For word suggestions while typing, just do the following:
1. Open the Terminal App
2. Run devel-su to get root permissions
3. Run pkcon install jolla-xt9 jolla-xt9-cp

Syncronize your Contacts and Calendar with ownCloud/Nextcloud

1. open the `Settings` and open the accounts menu
2. select `add account`
3. choose `CalDAV and CardDAV`
4. enter your login credentials
5. enter the full adress in the server field:
   in my case:
   https://my.nextcloud.adress/remote.php/dav
Help! I can't find my adress!
open your Nextcloud and go to the calendar app
on the buttom-left corner, you have a menu, open it
use the "Primary CALDAV-Adress"
6. thats all. have fun :-)

(completly) enable XMPP support

In case you can add your Jabberaccount but nothing happends, you may need the following packages:
1. libpurple
2. telepathy-haze
